Services
At MDHS we endeavour to provide services relevant to every phase of a persons life - from birth to aged care.
Our Antenatal Clinic provides antenatal care to all women from 13 weeks of pregnancy to full term. We have a birthing suite with highly competent midwives and access to medical care close at hand. The post natal areas provide privacy for families.
Consultant surgeons from Bendigo and Ballarat provide surgical services in Ear, Nose & Throat, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology and Urology.
We have a resident General Surgeon who provides a ranges of surgical services.
Local General Practitioners provide support for our Urgent Care Centre, Aneasthetics, Obstetric Services and 'in house' medical treatment.
The Welfare Staff and Aged Care Assessment Team assists families with accessing information on a range of issues regarding aged care services and making an informed choice.
Our Renal Dialysis service provides dialysis three days a week and can also provide dialysis for visiting clients.
An increasing amount of community based services are provided by MDHS. These include Health Promotion, Ill Health Prevention and Community Connectness Programs.
The Rural Involvement Towards Communities Health (RITCH) program services the smaller and more isolated areas of populations less than 5000 people within our catchment.
District Nursing/Palliative Care also provide an invaluable service to many in the community.
The majority of Shire residents use our services unless specialist or complex obstetric treatment is needed, then a referral is made to the larger hospitals such as Bendigio Health Care Group, Ballarat Health Services or Melbourne hospitals with whom we have close affiliations.
