The Maryborough campus of Maryborough District Health Service provides both Acute and Aged Care services enabling a comprehensive health service delivery to the community. These services include:

Pre-Admission Clinic
The pre-admission clinic is for elective surgery patients to attend prior to their surgery.  It is the ideal time to uncover potential medical problems which could delay surgery.  It is also the patient’s opportunity to ask questions and raise concerns about hospital procedures or their surgery, and plan for their return home after treatment.

In 2007/2008 1354 patients attended the pre-admission clinic.

After Hours Clinic
After Hours Clinic 001.jpg The After Hours GP Clinic commenced operations on July 1, 2008.   This clinic operates from 75 Clarendon St, Maryborough, in rooms at the front of Dr Foong’s existing rooms (Medical Clinic - see photo on left).  Hours of operation are Monday to Friday evenings from 7.00pm until 9.30pm.

Weekend morning clinics will operate from the respective clinics as per the on call roster.  Weekend afternoon clinics will operate from the After Hours Clinic between the hours of 7.00pm until 9.30pm.
This service operates seven (7) days a week, including public holidays.

The contact phone number for the clinic is 5461 0310. Appointments can be made by phoning this number at the commencement of the clinic.

Post Acute Care
Supports patient’s recuperation after a hospital episode, via the provision of individually tailored packages of community based care services.  The program promotes health and independence whilst providing a vital link to ongoing community support.

In 2007/2008 an average of 20 episodes of post acute care per month were provided to the community.

Acute Medical/Surgical/Maternity (Amherst ward)
Amherst ward provides inpatient care for medical, surgical, obstetric, haemodialysis and palliative care patients. The ward is staffed by an experienced team of nursing staff with a strong commitment to high standards of clinical care.

In 2007/2008 there were 100 births.

Antenatal Clinic
The Antenatal clinic has moved into new rooms on the 2
nd floor of the hospital. The service provided remains the same however, a new suite of furniture and a change in décor modernises the facilities and allows for the increased comfort of the women who attend Ante natal clinic.

In addition to improving our maternity services, the Health Service is also taking part in a Young Mothers’ Project that has been funded by the Angior Foundation - a philanthropic society that provides funding for these types of projects. This project aims to educate, assist and support the young mothers of this region.

If you are a young mother and would like further information on upcoming events, please contact Anna Sullivan on 5461 0368.
