New Ultrasound Equipment
See above photo of David Singe, Chief Radiographer, with new ultrasound equipment.

The Medical Imaging Department has again been upgraded with the purchase of new state of the art Ultrasound equipment.  A Toshiba Aplio has been purchased and has already been installed.  It arrived on 26 November and is now in use.

This equipment will provide Maryborough and its Community with increased accuracy due to its increased image clarity and function.

The Ultrasound service has dramatically increased over the past two years with the service available five days per week. The increase has enabled this purchase and the ability to offer a service similar to that of major centres like Bendigo and Ballarat.

General Ultrasound examinations are available five days per week including abdominal, pelvic, renal and small parts.

Most musculo-skeletal examinations are also available.

Echocardiography and Vascular examinations are provided on a fortnightly basis.

The new equipment comprises a new high frequency generator with state-of-the-art computer-based controls. This will ensure minimal radiation dose to the patient while increasing the quality of the resultant image. The X-ray bed is now able to be moved vertically allowing better access for elderly and wheelchair patients. The ceiling suspension of the x-ray tube will give increased mobility and assist when examining patients on trolleys or beds.

The new equipment will be an asset to the Health Service and the Community as it is owned by MDHS.

MedicalImaging3.jpg                         General Radiography is available five days per week.  A weekend service also operates as required.

A dental unit, OPG, has been installed and is fully operational.  This allows the Dentist/ Doctor to visualise all the teeth in one image.
