Maryborough District Health Service was formed on July 1, 1993 through the amalgamation of Maryborough and District Hospital, Maryborough and District Hospice Inc., Dunolly District Hospital and Central Victorian Community Health Services Incorporated.
Maryborough District Accommodation Group Inc elected to join Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS) on October 1, 1995 and was further enhanced when the Avoca Bush Nursing Hospital joined MDHS on July 1, 1999.
The Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care’s Regional Health Service, commenced in March, 2001 and was established to provide outreach services to Avoca, Dunolly, Carisbrook and Talbot and the smaller towns that surround them.
There are four specific campuses that make up Maryborough District Health Service and they are Maryborough campus, Avoca campus, Dunolly campus and Community Services.
